Mannheim, Germany, 07/2001 The Kieler Woche chose COMPAREX as its partner in providing the hardware for the results service - an extremely demanding task for the IT infrastructure. For the organisers of the Kiel competition, rapid and reliable data processing was crucial. "The AVAILABILITY ARCHITECTS were given the task of setting up a high-availability IT infrastructure for the results service of the Kieler Woche using software solutions developed with Microsoft products," explains Ralf Növe, Account Manager, COMPAREX Hamburg. The smooth running of the operation depended on close collaboration between COMPAREX and its partners, COMPAQ, CITRIX, HITACHI, PHILIPS, eSeSIX and NORDAC as outsourcing and service providers.
COMPAREX developed a comprehensive solution based on its partners' powerful and highly reliable best-of-class components. In this way, COMPAREX ensured that results were recorded and analysed quickly and efficiently both before and during the Kieler Woche. Even when the competition was in full swing, spectators and journalists could obtain reliable interim results at any time. This ensured that spectators always had an overview of the current state of play.
NORDAC Rechenzentrumsgesellschaft mbH, a service partner of COMPAREX, provided support in installing the necessary hardware and also supplied service personnel for the various solution components. The IT solution for the Kieler Woche results service constituted a real technological challenge for COMPAREX and NORDAC. Technical problems which arose during the project were analysed in detail by a committed team and overcome by a combined effort.
