With a suite of new products COMPAREX broadens its Storage

expertise, COMPAREX implements new NAS products to
provide complete Storage Networking solutions.

| Mannheim, Germany, 02/2001 NAS and SAN are complementary concepts for enterprise-wide
information access. The combination of NAS and SAN helps to
achieve the benefits to be delivered from a "NAS Front-end with SAN
Back-end" approach. Within a comprehensive Storage Networking
strategy the synergies of both concepts can best be exploited. The
NAS products CLARiiON® IP4700, Celerra SE (Single Enclosure),
and Celerra File Server enable customers to implement
high-availability NAS solutions for File-Serving and Sharing providing
the required high-performance and scalability.
With this product portfolio COMPAREX provides solutions for all
mid-range and enterprise high-end NAS needs. The comprehensive
COMPAREX SAN product range enables Fibre Channel based
Storage Networking solutions to be tailored to meet customer's
specific requirements.
COMPAREX can therefore provide companies with a Storage
Networking solution adapted to either a decentralised or centralised
storage consolidation strategy. Depending on the specific
requirements regarding availability, scalability, and functionality this
storage strategy can be based on the CLARiiON or the Symmetrix®
platforms.
CLARiiON IP4700 Brings High-end Functionality to Midrange
NAS Market
The CLARiiON IP4700 brings high-end, highly available functionality to
the mid-tier NAS market. The IP4700 scales to 3.6 terabytes in
rack-mountable increments, is designed from the ground up to enable
seamless failover of operations without the added burden of dedicated
software and complex configurations, and is supported by
industry-leading backup solutions, e.g. SnapView™/IP Software.
Simplified packaging and design provides customers with a
high-availability configuration and rapid 10-minute installation.
High-end NAS Entry Solution with Celerra SE
Celerra SE delivers an entry-level, enterprise configuration for the
high-end NAS market with all the attributes of the Celerra File Server
platform, such as advanced clustering and the ability to integrate with
proven software such as TimeFinder™ and Symmetrix Remote Data
Facility (SRDF™). Celerra SE scales to 1.1 terabytes of internal
capacity (eight terabytes total internal/external capacity). In addition,
there are two pre-configured models available for customers requiring
rapid deployment. Celerra SE combines for the first time the Celerra
File Server - the enterprise NAS market leader - and the Symmetrix
Enterprise Storage system in a single enclosure.
Enterprise wide Data-Sharing with Celerra File Server
The Celerra File Server offers industry-leading scalability to 28 TB. It
is ideally suited for network-based applications requiring
enterprise-class data sharing, including e-mail, Web hosting and
e-commerce, as well as NT consolidation and software development.
The HighRoadTM software incorporates important new software
functionality into the Celerra File Server operating environment and
participating servers, significantly enhancing file-sharing capabilities
and performance. Celerra with HighRoad software fuses the
industry-standard file sharing of Network Attached Storage (NAS) with
the high-performance information delivery of a Storage Area Network
(SAN), for the first time creating one unified Storage Network.
Together with the INFINISTORE Virtual Disk (IVD) for NAS entry-level
solutions and the today announced products for the mid-range and
high-end NAS market COMPAREX provides comprehensive Storage
Networking solutions.
